Rip Van Winkle joined the Wehrmacht when she was nineteen in an effort to aid her poor family, who had spent most of what they earned to put her through music school. She quickly rose to the rank of Untersturmführer, and as a newly constructed FREAK she encountered Alucard.

She was later told that she was destined, like Kaspar in the opera Der Freischütz, to die by the hands of "Zamiel". She has lived with and accepted that knowledge, and doesn't waver in her loyalty to the Major.

She met Greed one rainy evening running an errand for Millenium, and quickly came to look up to him as the sort of monster she would have endeveured to become. That admiration quickly turned to infatuation and love, though she was careful to remind herself that due to what he was; Greed could never return the same feelings for her. Still, she accepted his proposal and plans to marry him so that she will have actually had a wedding before she dies.

She treats the chimera Dorochet somewhere between a child and a potential love interest, though mostly the former. She treats Schrödinger like a child as well. She still searches for things to aid her Major, such as infecting certain people with Werewolf blood to see who was a Natural Wolf and who was a Chaotic Wolf.
